A number of defences showed extra Christmas spirit and kindness to all men, allowing offences to rack up scores in week 16.
Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes as the Green Bay Packers maintained their play-off push with a 38-25 victory over the fading Minnesota Vikings. Jordy Nelson caught two of the scores, which puts the Packers (9-5) level on wins with the Detroit Lions in the NFC North.
The New England Patriots racked up five scores against the New York Jets, who were roundly beaten 41-3. Jets Head coach Todd Bowles was on the sidelines, despite being hospitalised the day before.
San Francisco got their second win of the season, with a last-minute two point play. Rod Streator scored the 10-yard touchdown, but it was quarterback Colin Kaepernick who scrambled in to get the extra points, handing the 49ers a 22-21 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
The Washington Redskins bounced back from defeat to crush the Chicago Bears 41-21 and keep their play-off hopes alive. Kirk Cousins' team are currently the seventh seed in the NFC, with a 8-6-1 record.
