Katusha have announced the signing of former three-time world time-trial champion Tony Martin on a two-year deal.

The 31-year-old German will officially move on January 1 after five seasons with Etixx - Quick-Step.

Martin has won five stages of the Tour de France during his career but has endured a lean 2016 campaign, with his only victory coming in the German national time-trial championship.

Martin said: "I am excited to come to this strong team. What convinced me the most to make the move was the fact that the team directors and the team manager really believe in me.

"I will be able to obtain more results than I have had so far. They have convinced me that I can still improve. On the other hand, and like in previous years, if I can help a team-mate win, I will be just as happy."
