Sergio Garcia is a major champion at last after his dramatic victory over Justin Rose at the Masters, and the new champion is, of course, our choice for Round of the Day.
Garcia, playing in his 74th major championship, went through an emotional rollercoaster during his final round 69 which forced a play-off against his Ryder Cup team-mate, which the Spaniard won with a birdie at the first extra hole.
The 37-year-old looked intent on ending his major misery from the start as he set up birdies at the first and third with some excellent ball-striking, and he enjoyed a three-shot lead until Rose battled back with three straight gains.
Many felt Garcia would suffer yet another near miss when his radar went missing after the turn, but a clutch par-save at 13 revived his ambition and he followed a birdie at 14 with a stunning second to close range at the 15th which he converted for eagle.
A cracking second to six feet at the last gave him the chance to win in regulation and, although he missed that one, he atoned with a winning birdie at the first play-off hole before exploding into celebration.
