Thomas Bjorn feels "honoured" to be joining the Sky Sports commentary team for the Masters and outlined how the role can be of benefit to him as Ryder Cup captain.
Bjorn has been charged with the task of reclaiming the Cup for Europe in next year's contest in Paris, and believes being at Augusta National will boost his chances of avenging the defeat at Hazletine last autumn.
The Dane is looking forward to sharing his insight into Augusta National, where he has made 12 appearances with a best finish of eighth place in 2014, although he admitted it was strange to return in a watching brief rather than with his clubs in tow.
"I was confused last week. It normally takes me 10 minutes to get packed, this time it took me about three hours," he said after play was suspended for the day less than an hour into the traditional Par 3 contest.
"It's certainly a bit different for me being at a golf tournament I'm not playing in, but I didn't hesitate for a second when I got the offer to come out here and join Sky's commentary team.
"To be successful in my role as Ryder Cup captain over the next 16 months, I have to tie in all the links. I need to get close to the players, and you do that by talking to them, playing with them but also seeing them in action and hearing what's been said about them.
"One of the best ways to do that is through television, so I was happy to come to Augusta and do this. And I'm keen to do more TV work going forward, it's a great opportunity to gather information and get some messages across in a subtle way. And I really enjoy it as well, it's something I've always wanted to do, and we'll see where it goes from here.
"I'm surrounded by a great crew, both behind the scenes and in front of the cameras. There's the likes of Paul McGinley and Butch Harmon, and hearing their opinions is always a good thing.
"Obviously Paul has a great insight into the job I'm now doing, but we'll be having a lot of conversations anyway. And Butch knows the American players very well, but he also has good knowledge of many Europeans as well.
"It's always nice to get information from such knowledgeable people about the game, and Butch is one of those. It's easy to get carried away and think you've seen a really great player, and then you speak to the best coaches and you're alerted to a couple of flaws that need sorting. And that's something I can help them with too.
"As Ryder Cup captain, there's no such thing as too much information.
"Commentating on the Masters is an honour and I'm really looking forward to it. I've played here enough times to have a good knowledge of Augusta National as well as many of the players, and it's great for me to share that insight with the viewers.
"Everybody knows the history of this place, but not many watching know what it's like to stand on that tee, and try to read a putt on that green and what goes through your mind when you're playing in the Masters. Those are the sort of things I enjoy sharing."
