Augusta anniversaries: Ian Woosnam's Masters win, 25 years on

Watch The Masters - All four days live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 4 from Thursday April 7 at 7pm on your home of Golf.

This month marks the 25 years since Ian Woosnam extended Britain's winning run at the Masters by becoming Wales' one and only major champion.

Woosnam found himself five off the pace after an opening-round 72, but quickly took control of the tournament and made a move up the leaderboard by bouncing back with rounds of 66 and 67.

Taking a one-shot lead over two-time champion Tom Watson into the final round, the Welshman reached the turn with a three-shot stroke cushion but saw that quickly disappear over the closing stretch.

Three birdies in a row from Jose Maria Olazabal lifted the Spaniard alongside Woosnam on 11 under, as Watson followed an eagle-three at the 13th with another two holes later to make it a three-way tie for the lead.

The trio were still all-square at the last, only for Olazabal to fail to find the green and two-putt from distance for bogey.

Watson also missed the 18th fairway, eventually posting a three-putt double-bogey, as Woosnam drained a five footer for the par needed to secure the Green Jacket.
