Kevin Streelman may have won the traditional par-three competition on Masters Wednesday, but Jack Nicklaus stole the show with the first hole-in-one of his career at Augusta.

The 75-year-old clipped a perfect short-iron over the water to the fourth green, and his ball landed 15 feet beyond the pin before spinning back and rolling gently into the hole for the first of five aces in the tournament.

Camilo Villegas also aced the fourth and then made another at the eighth as he tied Streelman at five under par, but it was Streelman who claimed victory on the third hole of a sudden-death play-off.

Six-time Masters champion Jack Nicklaus rolled back the years as he got a hole-in-one

But with two-thirds of the field not handing in a score, the day was about entertainment rather than competition and Nicklaus provided the latest of his many highlights at Augusta National.

The six-time Masters champion played alongside long-time friend and rival Gary Player and Ben Crenshaw, who took the place of Arnold Palmer after 'The King' was forced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury suffered in December.

Rory McIlroy also thrilled the patrons, particularly the younger element as he had One Direction star Niall Horan on his bag for the round.

The world No 1 allowed Horan to hit his tee shot at the ninth, but the singer failed to find dry land and blamed his pull-hook on severe nerves.

One Direction's Niall Horan had a moment to forget when he slipped whilst caddying for Rory McIlroy

"Any other day I would have found the green but there's a lot of pressure out there," Horan said. I do perform to a lot of people but I'm performing to their parents today. It's a very different crowd."

Tiger Woods was all smiles as he made a rare appearance in the annual exhibition with his two young children acting as caddies.

"We had an absolutely great time," Woods said. "These were memories for a lifetime. I'll always have memories of my pop at Augusta and now Sam and Charlie. An amazing day."

The Nicklaus and Villegas aces at the fourth were emulated by Matias Dominguez, the first Chilean to play at Augusta in over 50 years, while 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman completed the quintet of holes-in-one with a perfect blow at the fifth.
