Jordan Spieth 'unconcerned' by brace of missed cuts

Despite victory not being essential at the BMW Championhip for him to have a Fedex Cup chance, Jordan Spieth insists the tournament remains important

Despite missing the cut in his last two events, Jordan Spieth remains well placed to finish the season as the PGA Tour's No 1 golfer.

More than that, the 22-year-old American appears to be unconcerned by these latest setbacks saying they were 'just two bad weeks at the office.'

Spieth, who tees-up again this Thursday in the opening round of the BMW Championship in Illinois, trails Jason Day by 511 points in the FedEx Cup standings.

However, with 2,000 points at stake to the winner this week, Spieth is upbeat on his chances of overturning the deficit at Conway Farms ahead of the Tour Championship which brings the curtain down on another FedEx Cup campaign next week.

So far this year Spieth has won four times - including a brace of major titles - and has been runner-up on four other occasions.

He has had 14 top 10s and has amassed more than $10m in prize money but missed the cut in his two most recent starts at The Barclays and Deutsche Bank Championship - the opening two events of the play-off series.

Asked whether he believes he is losing his edge as the season draws to a close, Spieth responded: "My game is in a solid state right now. It's in a state where I can certainly shoot into double digits under par, and I believe that.

"Everything feels normal, everything is on point. I just had two bad weeks.

"Just leave it at that. You're just not going to make every single cut. You're going to have two bad days in a row every now and then.

"I feel very confident about where I'm at right this second. I rested a lot. I got a lot of work in this past week, took some time off.

"It's just a matter of getting it rolling, get into a groove and starting to see some putts go in and get an under-par round started so that I can settle in a little easier."

And with no cut this week, he is certain to play all 72 holes of the BMW Championship barring injury.
