Tiger Woods has withdrawn from his next two scheduled events, the Genesis Open and The Honda Classic.

The former world No 1 pulled out of this month's Dubai Desert Classic after suffering back spasms ahead of the second round.

And a statement on his website said spasms "similar to what he experienced in Dubai" would keep Woods out for the next fortnight.

He said: "My doctors have advised me not to play the next two weeks, to continue my treatment and to let my back calm down. This is not what I was hoping for or expecting.

"I am extremely disappointed to miss the Genesis Open, a tournament that benefits my foundation, and The Honda Classic, my hometown event.
