Radar catches up with Andrew Johnston over a beer in Tampa

Wayne Riley caught up with Andrew Johnston over a beer or two in Tampa as Beef reflected on his PGA Tour experience so far and revealed his aims for the year.

Johnston enjoyed an astonishing rise to stardom in 2016, winning his maiden European Tour title in Spain before becoming a worldwide cult hero with his excellent performances at The Open and the PGA Championship.

The popular Englishman earned a PGA Tour card for the 2017 season and, although he was not able to secure a place in the field at this week's Valspar Championship, he was happy to meet Radar for an entertaining chat at a local bar in Tampa.

Beef admitted he had endured some frustrations at being unable to play as many events as he had hoped, but his desire to succeed in the United States remains undiminished.

The charismatic 28-year-old is comfortable with being one of the most recognisable golfers in the world, and he is determined to establish himself on the PGA Tour sooner rather than later.

Johnston also enjoyed the unique experience of the vast crowds at the Phoenix Open, and he is already looking forward to having another crack at The Open in July having played brilliantly to finish eighth at Royal Troon last year.
