Tiger Woods was already struggling at four over par after seven holes at the US Open when he blocked his drive at the long eighth into deep trouble on the right.
His ball careered over the fairway and down a steep slope before nestling in some of the deepest rough at Chambers Bay, leaving him a tough task just to hack it back to short grass.
But the ailing former world No 1 managed to carve a path through the tall grass to his ball, although the effort took its toll on both his shaft and his grip.
The slow motion replays indicated the immense amount of stress placed on his club, as well as how far a club can travel through the air!
