PGA Championship: Highlights of Brooks Koepka's course-record opening 63

By Keith Jackson

Brooks Koepka's coach Claude Harmon III joins Nick Docherty to look back at the defending champion's sensational first round 63 at the PGA Championship.

Brooks Koepka began his bid for back-to-back PGA Championship titles in record style as he smashed the course record on the opening day at Bethpage Black.

The defending champion started and finished his stunning seven-under 63 with huge birdie putts and picked up five further shots in between to surge into an early four-shot lead.

Koepka managed the feat despite not being able to take advantage of the two par-fives, but he still did enough to notch up a few more records as he put himself in prime position to collect a fourth major in less than two years.

The 29-year-old broke the course-record of 64, which was co-held by Padraig Harrington, while he also became the only player to fire multiple 63s in the same major, and the first to record that score in a major in consecutive years.

Koepka produced a sensational first round 63 at the PGA Championship, but says it could have been even better!

Koepka's coach, Claude Harmon III, was understandably delighted with how things went for his star man on day one, and Claude joined Nick Dougherty at the Sky Cart to analyse the highlights of his round.
