Ahead of a stellar field descending on Wentworth for this week's BMW PGA Championship, we take a look at some of the essential statistics from the tournament - the European Tour's flagship event.
1
Only one American has emerged victorious in the competition. Arnold Palmer won the title at Royal St George's in 1975, when the tournament was taken to various host venues.
2
There will be two top-10 players competing at the Surrey-based course this week - Rory McIlroy [8] and Paul Casey [10].
3
Colin Montgomerie is the only player to have won the event on three consecutive occasions [from 1998-2000]. Fellow British golfers Sir Nick Faldo [1980,1981] and Luke Donald [2011-2012] won it back to back.
4
No player has won the tournament more times than Faldo. Victories in 1978, 1980, 1981 and 1989 leave him above three-time champions Peter Alliss, Bernhard Langer and Montgomerie.
There will be four former world No 1s in action - McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Ernie Els, who has played a key role in the course's modernisation.
5
Casey last played at the European Tour's headquarters in 2013. The Englishman, chasing a spot in Thomas Bjorn's 12-man Ryder Cup team later this year, won at the West Course in 2009.
From last year's inaugural eight-event Rolex Series there are five champions confirmed to feature this week - Rafa Cabrera Bello, Branden Grace, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Alex Noren. Two-time winner Jon Rahm and Justin Rose are not in action.
7
The largest final-round comeback at the European Tour's HQ was first set by Simon Khan in 2010, before it was matched by Rory McIlroy four years later and Alex Noren last year.
8
The number of major champions in action - Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, Danny Willett, Trevor Immelman, Graeme McDowell, Kaymer, Els and McIlroy.
Brian Huggett holds the record for the biggest margin of victory, which was in 1967 at Thorndon Park Golf Club pre-European Tour.
20
Matteo Manassero became the youngest champion of the tournament, when the Italian won a play-off against Khan and Marc Warren in a three-man play-off in 2013.
25
Lee Westwood, a two-time runner-up, will tee up for the 25th consecutive time.
62
Noren's 10-under par final round brilliance in 2017 enabled the Swede to secure the title and match Robert Karlsson [2010] and Thomas Bjorn [2014] for the tournament's 18-hole scoring record.
266
The overall tournament record for the event since its inception was by Brian Bamford in 1961 at Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club. The Englishman claimed a three-shot victory with a closing 11-under-par total.
269
Since Wentworth first hosted the event in 1984, the best 72-hole record is shared by Denmark's Anders Hansen [2002] and Scotland's Scott Drumond [2004].
