David Howell aims to recreate Phil Mickelson's excellence from the pine straw at Augusta

How would David Howell fare when he tried to replicate Phil Mickelson's memorable second shot from the pine straw at Augusta National?

Phil Mickelson produced one of the most memorable shots in Masters history from the pine straw at Augusta National, but how would David Howell fare?

During Sky Sports' Masters Breakfast coverage, discussion turned to the American's incredible second shot through the trees at the par-five 13th during a thrilling final round in 2010.

Howell, who was put under pressure in a series of challenges, connected well with the trajectory of the ball right on line with the heart of the green, only to see it stop on the fringe.

Mickelson won his third Green Jacket with a three-shot margin over Lee Westwood, and Billy Foster explained just what he was thinking as a caddie when the American lined up his improbable effort towards the green, before walking off with a birdie.

"I was thinking you are absolutely mental and what are you doing - it's kamikaze. Through the air I was laughing and thought he was in the water all the way," Foster said.

"But he carried it by a foot and it finished four feet away. He missed the putt but I had decided if holed it I was going to get down at the back of the green on my knees and bow to him. What a golf shot!"
