The Masters: Rickie Fowler's monster save

Rickie Fowler holed a 66-foot putt on the par-3 sixth hole to save par and stay at two-under on Friday at the Masters

Rickie Fowler is yet to win a major title but helped his chances of victory at the Masters with a monster par save during his second round at Augusta National.

The 29-year-old has suffered some close calls during his career on the sport's biggest stage, but his brilliance with the putter on the sixth could prove crucial as he aims to make a strong charge towards the top of the leaderboard ahead of the weekend.

Fowler carded a two-under 70 on Thursday but began his second round with a bogey before a birdie at the par-four fifth regained the dropped shot.

After his second shot to the par-four sixth finished just off the putting green his chip shot gathered pace down the renowned challenging greens before settling some 66ft away from the cup.

Nevertheless, the American maintained his momentum from the previous hole with an improbable tramliner to remain at two-under.
