Joost Luiten's amazing albatross takes him into the lead at Valderrama

Joost Luiten finds the perfect way to vault back into the lead at Valderrama as he holes out for an amazing albatross at the 11th.

Joost Luiten was having a tough second day at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters until he found the perfect way to revive his title chances ... a stunning albatross.

Luiten shared the overnight lead with tournament host Sergio Garcia after a 66 which included five birdies over his last seven holes, but he was one over for the second round having dropped his second shot of the day at the 10th.

However, the Dutchman then hit a good drive at the par-five 11th, although he still faced a tricky second from just under 230 yards, uphill to a narrow green surrounded by bunkers.

But Luiten took dead aim with a four-iron and made perfect connection, and moments later he was celebrating the rarest of birds on the European Tour when his ball pitched 20 feet short of the flag and rolled straight into the cup.

And the 31-year-old came within inches of making history at the par-three next hole as his 205-yard tee shot pitched barely a foot short of a slam-dunk hole-in-one, much to the amusement of Luiten and playing-partner Danny Willett.
