Watch Ashley Chesters almost make an albatross hole-in-one at the par-four ninth at the British Masters

Ashley Chesters went agonisingly close to making a hole-in-one albatross during the third round of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports.

The tee-box at the par-four ninth at Close House was moved forward on Saturday and Chesters made the most of the reduced yardage by blasting a drive onto the green on the downhill hole.

The ball bounced twice on the green before hitting the flag and dropping next to the hole and rolling around two foot away.

Chesters had no problems holing the putt for a welcome eagle.

The 28-year-old Englishman was playing in the final group alongside overnight-leader Tyrrell Hatton and the two-shot gain was vital to him after a poor start to his round which included double bogeys at the second and sixth.

He eventually signed for a two-over 72 which left him five shots off the 54-hole lead on seven under.
