We've all seen club golfers struggle to get their ball airborne from the rough, but a Ryder Cup player? At Wentworth?
Thomas Pieters showed that even the best golfers in the world can have occasional problems getting out of thick grass when he pulled his drive left at the third hole during the third round of the BMW PGA Championship.
The powerful young Belgian opted to take the bold approach and, despite the difficult lie, he decided he could punch a long iron onto the green with his second.
But Pieters looked a little embarrassed moments later when his ball scuttled a few yards further down the hole and settled in another deep lie, although at least he could take a more-lofted club for his third.
However, his second effort was much the same at the first and again failed to find short grass, and he eventually did well to limit the damage to a double-bogey six after taking five blows to reach the putting surface.
