The R&A announced a campaign last year to speed up the sport, offering guidance and suggestions to increase the pace of play at all levels of the game.

The campaign followed a worldwide survey from players to find their views on pace of play, combined with the findings from a conference at St Andrews called 'Time for Golf'.

Greater participation in the sport was one of the key reasons to encourage quicker play, with the report addressing three key areas pace can be improved.

The reported looked at the best player behaviour and etiquette to speed up play, as well as focussing on management practices and actions around the golf course.
