Watch as Tyrrell Hatton takes his first trip down Magnolia Lane at the Masters

Watch as Tyrrell Hatton drives along Magnolia Lane for the first time

Masters debutant Tyrrell Hatton admitted that driving down Magnolia Lane for the first time was a surreal experience.

Following on from a breakthrough year in 2016, Hatton has secured temporary membership on the PGA tour after an encouraging start to 2017, that included strong showings in Dubai and at The Honda Classic.

However, arriving at Augusta ahead of his first Masters was a different experience altogether for the world No 15.

"Augusta National has lived up to all my expectations so far," Hatton told europeantour.com. "It feels so surreal to be here. You get so used to watching it on TV, so just driving in on Sunday was strange.

"It is on such a busy main road and then you turn into this beautiful place. Driving down Magnolia Lane is one of those great experiences, but the whole experience been amazing so far."

While no rookie has won the Masters since 1979, Hatton, having earned his place, sees no reason why a first timer cannot succeed and is hopeful of making it two English winners in as many years after Danny Willett's triumph last year.

"The best players in the world get in, so even as rookies you can win golf tournaments," he added. "I'll be trying my best this week to do that.

"Seeing Danny Willett win last year was great for English golf and it was great to have an English winner of the Masters again. It would be nice if there was another this year."
