Jaco Van Zyl trials using a strange-looking putter during the opening round of the Joburg Open

Jaco Van Zyl generated lots of debate among golf fans with the introduction of an unorthodox club in his bag during the opening round of the Joburg Open.

The South African was one under for the day after 13 holes at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club when play was suspended, where the use of an alternative putter brought plenty of interest.

Van Zyl ditched his regular flat stick in favour of a Cleveland's Smart Square Stubby putter, which is traditionally used as a training device.

Although the cube weighs the same as a regular putter, its tiny clubface doesn't leave any margin for error on the greens!
