The compact layout around the opening hole is well known to players and fans alike, and the pros do not have far to go from the driving range surrounded by the manufacturers' support trucks, to the practice putting green and onto the first tee.
Former US Open champion Graeme McDowell was among those to get an early practice session in, and Weir gives us an insight into a player's-eye view as he makes his way from the range to the first tee, guarded by the famous statue of Bernard Gallacher.
