Justin Rose blooms at Bay Hill with a superb eagle from the fairway

Justin Rose enjoyed a moment of magic in the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational as he holed out from the fairway to record his second eagle of the day.

Rose made a poor start after finding water with his approach to the 11th - his second - and running up a double-bogey, but he got one shot back at the next and then rolled in a 20-foot putt for eagle at the long 16th.

The world No 8 took another step back with a bogey at the first, but he provided the perfect response two holes later when his 112-yard wedge approach landed four feet right of the pin and spun sharply to the left and into the cup.

Rose, runner-up to Tiger Woods at Bay Hill in 2013, continued his momentum as he picked up further strokes at the par-five fourth and sixth holes before parring in to return a four-under 68, leaving one adrift of the early clubhouse lead.
