Adam Scott reflected on a "wild" final day at Doral after he continued his incredible run of form with victory at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
Scott looked out of contention when he found water at the third and fifth and double-bogeyed both to slip six shots behind Rory McIlroy, but he responded with six birdies over the next nine holes before parring in to snatch a one-shot win over Bubba Watson.
The Australian, second at Riviera a fortnight ago and winner of last week's Honda Classic, enjoyed some outrageous good fortune at the last when his second from behind a tree somehow avoided another watery grave.
His ball hung on the bank and stayed dry, and Scott played a sublime pitch to six feet and rattled in the par putt to clinch the 13th PGA Tour title of his career, and his second World Golf Championship crown following his WGC-Bridgestone Invitational win in 2011.
Asked how he managed to pull off an unlikely win, Scott told Claude Harmon at the Sky Cart: "I don't really know. This is such a wild golf course in conditions like the wind was today.
"I made a couple of horrible errors on the front nine but you can't give up hope and I thought if I can get a couple (of birdies) before the turn, maybe a great back nine is good enough if things go my way and they did somehow. It was messy and my golf wasn't that pretty today either.
"Somehow I started feeling a bit like I did last week and the swing came under control, the rhythm came back and I started hitting iron shots close, almost so close you couldn't miss them which was nice.
"I have been working hard on my putting and couldn't ask for a better way to test myself, a six-footer to win a World Golf Championship event. I can't believe I have won back to back weeks out here and to win a WGC is huge.
"Somehow I need to bottle this up and keep it another four or five weeks through the Masters and that would be amazing to get myself into contention there and have a chance."
And on his slice of luck at the last, Scott added: "I thought the wind was strong enough but I hit it so well I flew the hazard and I was lucky enough to get it to stay there."
