Bittersweet point for Cheltenham

Image: Will Packwood: Amongst the goals

Cheltenham returned to the League Two relegation zone despite a spirited 2-2 draw with Portsmouth.

Eliot Richards and Will Packwood's first half goals gave the Robins hope of a first away win since January 3 but Ryan Taylor's ninth goal of the season upset the strugglers. Matt Tubbs gave the Pompey the lead when he tapped in after a brilliant drive and cross from winger Andy Barcham in the 17th minute. Just 92 seconds later Cheltenham levelled when Richards sweetly turned and volleyed under Paul Jones for his first Robins goal. And Packwood completed the turnaround in the 18th minute when he deftly nodded in Matt Richards' deep free-kick, for his first ever Football League goal. But two minutes before half time Taylor scored for the third game in a row as he powerfully headed in Dan Butler's perfect set-piece. Tubbs went close with a fierce strike that was flicked over by ex-Pompey keeper Trevor Carson, but Portsmouth could not find a winner.
