Another draw for Morecambe

Morecambe's last five league games have now ended all square as Padraig Amond's equaliser earned a 1-1 draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Jim Bentley's side had to come from behind for the third game in a row after Wimbledon took the lead in the 12th minute through Jake Reeves. George Francomb's corner found Adebayo Akinfenwa who showed composure and skill to tee up Reeves for a low drive into the corner from 12 yards out. The game then became something of a midfield battle before the Shrimps began to assert their authority towards the end of the half. Amond went close to getting on to the end of an Alan Goodall cross but made no mistake from a similar situation three minutes before the break. Laurence Wilson produced a superb cross and Amond nipped in front of his marker to flick a header past James Shea. Morecambe started the second half on the front foot with Jack Redshaw going closewhen he fired inches wide of the right-hand post after a superb turn in the box. The home side then had claims for a penalty waved away when Will Nightingale looked to have handled Mark Hughes' close-range header. The Shrimps looked the more likely to pinch a late winner as Amond volleyed over from the edge of the box in added time but the Wimbledon defence stayed strong to deny Morecambe a first home win since the middle of December.
