James Gray scored an 83rd minute winner to secure a 1-0 home victory for managerless Accrington over AFC Wimbledon.
James Beattie left the Store First Stadium by mutual consent in a shock move on Friday and his assistant Paul Stephenson took charge for the match. It was a dour encounter but striker Gray produced the bit of magic for the Reds to chalk up their second successive win. Adam Buxton barged through two defenders into the area and passed to Gray who slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net for his fifth goal of the season. There were few chances but the Dons were unlucky in the 56th minute, Sean Rigg's effort from a corner was finger-tipped onto the bar by Joe Lumley and bounced down with Piero Mingoia clearing off the line. Striker Matt Tubbs had a couple of efforts which were not far off while Lumley produced a superb save in injury time to keep out Alan Bennett's header and deny the Dons a draw.Gray magic sees off Wimbledon
