As it was, Prince Oniangue's strike on 30 minutes was enough to clinch victory for the hosts and leave their opponents still deep in trouble near the foot of the table. Ayite almost doubled the lead just before half-time but his right-footed volley was narrowly off target. Evian stepped things up after the break, with Kevin Berigaud's header just missing, but Odair Fortes replied by bringing an excellent reflex save from Jesper Hansen before Krychowiak drove against the post from 25 yards. The visitors were gifted a way back into the game when Agassa brought down Wass, but Mongongu failed to deliver from the spot.
