Steve Howard produced a last-gasp winner to keep Leicester City's hopes of an Easter Monday promotion alive. Leeds were looking to drag themselves into contention for a top-two finish with victory but were cruelly denied deep into stoppage time. Both teams had chances but strong performances from goalkeepers Casper Ankergren and David Stockdale ensured the deadlock was not broken until the dying moments. But the Foxes collected all three points at the last possible opportunity when Max Gradel's corner was headed in by the Scottish striker.

Pressure

It was the home side that made the brighter start in front of their biggest crowd of the season. Gradel often threatened on the right wing and forced an early save from Ankergren. The hosts won a number of corners in the opening stages and almost converted one into a goal when Andy King headed towards goal after a scramble in the area. But Ankergren saved and Leeds managed to clear the danger. Leeds almost took the lead against the run of play when Stockdale misjudged a clearing punch and saw the ball cannon off his own bar. The game opened up after half-time. Stockdale made a good low save after Richard Naylor met a Leeds corner with his head.
Saves
At the other end, King struck a curling shot from just outside the box that was tipped wide by Ankergren. Exciting youngster Fabian Delph had the chance to put Leeds ahead when he was played through by Andy Robinson but was denied by Stockdale. Foxes striker Matty Fryatt found himself free in the penalty area after a pull-back from King but Ankergren once again stopped the visitors from falling a goal behind. Leeds substitute Robinson wriggled free on the edge of the box and forced Stockdale to acrobatically tip the ball over the bar. A goalless draw seemed inevitable until an unmarked Howard headed home with the final chance of the game.
