Striker nets third hat-trick of the season

Jermaine Beckford grabbed his third hat-trick of the season as Leeds climbed back into the top six of League One and showed lowly Yeovil no mercy in a 4-0 thumping. Neil Kilkenny scored a superb goal and Luciano Becchio missed a penalty as Yeovil player-manager Terry Skiverton was left still searching for his first win in charge. Beckford opened the scoring in the 26th minute when a telegraphed pass was seized on by Ben Parker who hoisted the ball into the penalty area for Beckford to stick out a boot and divert the ball past unguarded goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar. The striker had a goal disallowed for offside almost immediately but Yeovil fell further behind to Kilkenny who spotted Wagenaar off his line and lobbed him from 30 yards in the 43rd minute. Kilkenny put Beckford through for his second goal in the 52nd minute and the former Weadstone forward completed his hat-trick six minutes later after being released by Jonny Howson for his 28th goal of the season. Becchio was brought down after 71 minutes but fired his penalty high over the bar.
