Macc floored on their travels

Andy Barcham's second-half double got Gillingham's play-off push back on track against Macclesfield as the Gills ground out a 3-1 win. Their first win in four matches was on the cards from as early as the second minute, when, after saving well from Dennis Oli, Macclesfield keeper Jon Brain could do little to stop Simon King beating him with a header from Nicky Southall's corner. Macclesfield spurned a great chance to equalise when Matthew Flynn headed over from close-range and it then took a fine block from Mark Bentley to deny Tom Elliott. Barcham then doubled his side's lead on 74 minutes when he lashed home after Macclesfield failed to clear another Southall corner. Macclesfield were given some hope when Gareth Evans reduced the deficit from the spot following a handball by Barcham. But the striker had the last laugh when he curled home the clincher for his ninth of the season with two minutes remaining.
