A game desperately short on quality saw Macclesfield and Morecambe share the spoils in a 1-1 draw
Macclesfield were overrun in the opening stages and it was little surprise when the visitors took a 25th-minute lead.
Right-back Zak Mills' fierce drive led to a corner and when it was half-cleared, Mills again pounced to score after Aaron Collins had headed Piero Mingoia's cross back across goal.
But the Silkmen scored an unlikely equaliser from their first meaningful chance in the 33rd minute, Elliott Durrell drilling in from Scott Wilson's lay-off.
That sparked some life into the home side and Reece Cole crashed a free-kick against the foot of a post while Morecambe had a Kevin Ellison header ruled out for offside.
What quality had been on show in the first half was nowhere to be seen after the break, with chances few and far between.
Long-range efforts from each side, plus wayward efforts from the Shrimps' Steven Old and Ellison, were about all the two teams could muster.
