Sunderland manager Roy Keane was left to bemoan his side's defending following their 2-0 defeat against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Aaron Lennon opened the scoring for Spurs in the second minute as he fired home after making the most of a cross from Jamie O'Hara following some bad defending from the Black Cats.
The first half was the poorest for Keane's men as two saves from Craig Gordon inside a minute denied Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov.
But they came out a revitalised side after the interval and they were unlucky not to pull level as Kenwyne Jones hit the back of the net in the 50th minute but it was ruled out for offside before a goalmouth scramble in the 81st minute saw his header cleared off the line from Michael Dawson and skipper Dean Whitehead send the rebound wide.
Spurs' second did not arrive until the 92nd minute when substitute Robbie Keane snatched a goal - his 100th for Spurs - after his shot squirmed underneath Gordon.

Keane said: "If you give two goals away like we did you don't deserve to win any football match.
"You can dress it up all you want.
"Their goalkeeper obviously made some outstanding saves, credit to him, but if you concede a goal after 111 seconds it's not ideal with our away record.
"The game is 90 minutes, you're not going to dominate any game from start to finish but you have to start well. Every manager wants a decent start and at the top level it is about concentration. That wins and loses football matches."
Signings
Keane also revealed that he still hopes to bring new faces to the Stadium of Light before the end of the January transfer window.
"I've been saying it for two or three weeks and I'm still hopeful," he added.
