Sky Sports football expert Neil McCann believes Scotland manager Gordon Strachan could call time on his four-year reign after the defeat at Wembley.
The hope of a unlikely victory to kickstart Scotland's World Cup qualification hopes were dashed in London as three headers sealed a comfortable win for Gareth Southgate's men.
The result leaves the Scots languishing in fifth place in the Group F standings - with only Malta below them - and McCann feels a change at the top could be imminent.
He told Sky Sports New HQ: "Honestly, I think Gordon will maybe walk after this such was the hysteria and fall out after the Slovakia game and there was loads of clamour, people calling for him to go then.
"He still felt he was the right man for the job but I think after this defeat tonight he will probably take stock and he will be asked the question from the powers that be at the SFA whether he wants to continue and I don't know if he will, I honestly don't.
"We have got a long break now until our next game in March and he might feel that for a new man to come in that is enough time for him to get around and make his own mind up on players, look at guys who are playing throughout the country and take stock. But I'm not sure Gordon will be around after that."
Strachan's former Aberdeen and Scotland team-mate, Alex McLeish, is the current favourite to take on the job he left nine years ago.
Other names in the frame include Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes, Sunderland's David Moyes, and Scotland U21 coach Scott Gemmill.
