Team news, key stats and ways to follow ahead of Sheffield United vs Bournemouth on Sunday (Kick-off 2pm).

Team news

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder could have David McGoldrick back in his ranks on Sunday.

Wilder revealed the Republic of Ireland forward had been "back on the grass" this week after several games out with a foot injury but with no fresh problems elsewhere, McGoldrick will likely have to settle for a place on the bench.

Lys Mousset will be pushing for a start against his former club after impressing as a substitute against Crystal Palace last time out, while the club's record signing, Sander Berge, is set for his home debut.

Bournemouth could welcome back forward Josh King and defender Jack Stacey following hamstring injuries.

The duo have missed the last seven games in all competitions but returned to full training earlier this week, with Howe confirming both were "getting close" to comebacks.

Former Blade David Brooks has returned to England after specialist treatment in Qatar on a long-term ankle injury and while he will miss out here, is making progress. "He was running on the grass for the first time (on Thursday)," Howe said at his pre-match press conference.

Opta stats

  • Sheffield United have lost just one of their 15 previous league meetings with Bournemouth (W9 D5), going down 0-1 at home in August 1987 in the second tier.
  • Bournemouth's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on the opening weekend ended a run of seven consecutive league defeats against the Blades.
  • The last three league meetings between Sheffield United and Bournemouth at Bramall Lane have produced a total of 17 goals, with the Blades winning all three by an aggregate score of 11-6.
  • Sheffield United's Premier League games have seen fewer goals than any other side in the competition this season (49), with only Liverpool conceding fewer goals than the Blades (23). However, the Yorkshire side also haven't scored more than once in any of their last eight league games.
  • Bournemouth have won their last two Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 17 in the competition (W2 D4 L11). They've not won three in a row within the same season since March 2016.

Charlie's prediction

Sheffield United have been stunning. If it wasn't for Jurgen Klopp, the Manager of the Year would go to Chris Wilder. It has been nothing short of amazing. I remember John Fleck at Rangers and he was drifting. He ended up at Coventry and few thought he was going to be as good as what he is now, but it tells you how people can find a way in football with a style and play that suits them.

George Baldock, Enda Stevens, Jack O'Connell and John Egan have all been fantastic, while Dean Henderson is a tremendous goalkeeper. The defensive record says it all. This is no fluke.

A look at some of the key stats surrounding match week 26, which includes Manchester United's trip to Chelsea and Norwich's clash with leaders Liverpool.

And then Wilder goes in and gets someone like Sander Berge to add competition for places. Bournemouth earned a good win last week; they have to get on the front foot and go for it more often.

Sheffield United fans might think that they will not have a problem here - they could be two points off the Champions League places with a win - but something about Bournemouth tells me there may be some fresh intensity from them, perhaps enough to get a point.
