A first-half goal blitz saw Lincoln return to the top of League Two as they secured a 3-1 victory over Morecambe.
With MK Dons' game at Newport being postponed just before kick-off, the Imps knew three points would take them back to the summit.
It was a chance they took with both hands thanks to goals from Harry Anderson, John Akinde and Jason Shackell.
Tom Pett and Harry Toffolo combined for the first goal on seven minutes, with the latter's cross being met with a classy finish from Anderson.
Akinde made it 2-0 on 33 minutes after Shay McCartan was adjudged to have been fouled by Alex Kenyan and the Imps' leading scorer sent keeper Mark Halstead the wrong way from the spot.
The Imps made it 3-0 in unlikely fashion four minutes later. After the home side won a free-kick a couple of yards outside the box, veteran defender Shackell stepped up to smash it into the net.
To their credit, the Shrimps kept going and were rewarded for their efforts on 80 minutes when a cross from substitute Rhys Oates was slotted home by Kevin Ellison.
