Celtic's Charlie Mulgrew will not play again until 2016 after he was ruled out for at least six weeks with a thigh injury.

Mulgrew misses this weekend's home meeting with Hamilton - which is in doubt due to wet weather in Glasgow - because of the problem.

The former Aberdeen defender came off after Ajax scored their winner in the recent Europa League game at Parkhead with a recurrence of the injury.

It had kept him out for six months last season and the game against the Dutch was his first since mid-September.

Mulgrew joins Celtic captain Scott Brown on the sidelines as he spends a lengthy period of time out with a knee injury.

Scotland midfielder Brown is expected to be out for around three months after he was hurt in a recent 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock.

Kris Commons could return against Hamilton following a hamstring problem and illness but Anthony Stokes is suspended by the club.

"I think he is ready," said the Norwegian. "He has been very, very good from day one. It's always tough to come from a Championship club to the best team in Scotland.

"It takes time to adapt. He has been unbelievably patient and works hard every day. He tries to learn and understand things. In the last few games he has come on and made a difference."
