Eggert Jonsson bagged his first goal for Fleetwood to lift them away from the danger zone with a 2-1 win over Millwall.

The hosts had an early chance to break the deadlock when David Ball found the run of David Henen but a heavy touch from the Everton loanee allowed goalkeeper Jordan Archer to close the angle and save.

The Lions came under plenty of first-half pressure but almost grabbed the lead on the stroke of half-time when skipper Steve Morison got his head on a hopeful ball 30 yards out and looped it over Chris Maxwell but the striker was denied by the crossbar.

The visitors went close again from the restart, Aiden O'Brien muscling through to meet a long throw but unable to keep his effort down.

Neither keeper had really been tested until Jonsson forced Archer to tip his 18-yard drive over the crossbar with more than an hour gone.

The Icelander was not to be denied, though, and a minute later he threw himself at a drilled Tariq Fosu cross and his back-post header gave Archer no chance.

Fleetwood secured the win with two minutes remaining, sub Bobby Grant grabbing his second goal in as many games when a corner kick caught in the wind and swung in at the near post.
