Huddersfield defender William Boyle has joined York on a youth loan until January 3.

Boyle, 20, who can play in central defence and at left-back, has made one senior appearance for Huddersfield and is currently captain of their Under-21s.

Huddersfield's senior professional development coach Frankie Bunn told his club's official website: "York manager Jackie McNamara approached the club about William's availability straight after watching him in action first-hand in the 2-0 U21s win at Leeds United on Monday.

"This will be William's third spell and now is the time for him to go and establish himself in York's side, which we all believe he is more than capable of doing.

"He's a great character - a leader on the pitch - and this is potentially a superb next step in his development as a footballer."

Boyle progressed through Huddersfield's academy and made his only first-team appearance as a late substitute against Reading in February.
