Giannis Skondras has been charged by the Scottish FA for excessive misconduct following his red card in Hamilton's victory over Ross County on Saturday.
The defender was shown a red card for his part in a brawl involving players from both sides in stoppage time at the end of the game.
If he is found guilty of the charge, Skondras could face a hefty ban, with potential punishments ranging from a four to 16-match suspension.
Hamilton and Ross County have also been charged for their players' involvement in the mass confrontation, and their fines, if found guilty, could be between £500 and £10,000.
All parties have until December 28 to respond to the charges, and their hearings will take place on January 11.
The match finished 3-2 to Hamilton, a result which left them in ninth place and four points above Ross County.
