Real Salt Lake 0-0 LA Galaxy: Nick Rimando saves late penalty to deny Galaxy

Los Angeles Galaxy moved up to fourth in the MLS Western Conference following a goalless draw away to Real Salt Lake on Wednesday.

It was the goalkeepers who dominated proceedings at Rio Tinto Stadium after the match was delayed by over an hour due to lightning flashes seen around the ground prior to kick-off.

Galaxy shot-stopper Jaime Penedo was kept busy all night by Real as he made six saves to extend his side's unbeaten run in MLS.

However, it was Penedo's opposite number Nick Rimando, who ended up as the hero for the hosts as he saved Juninho's 92nd-minute penalty to hand both sides a share of the spoils.

Bruce Arena's men, who drew 1-1 with the Colorado Rapids last time out, have now claimed draws in their last three fixtures and will be looking to improve their five-match unbeaten run when they take on leaders Dallas away on Sunday.

The stalemate for the hosts leaves them three points further back in seventh.
