Alvaro Saborio and Patrick Nyarko scored as DC United returned to winning ways in MLS with a 2-0 victory over New York Red Bulls on Friday evening.
United, who were beaten by New York City FC on Sunday, went ahead in the 20th minute when Marcelo Sarvas crossed for Saborio to tap home his fourth goal of the season.
And two minutes before the break, Nyarko doubled the advantage, getting on the end of Lamar Neagle's cross from the right to poke past Luis Robles.
"You're pleased [at the win]," said DC United head coach Ben Olsen. "But the message is - that's what we can do. We can't wait for it to be New York, the Red Bulls, [in front of] a packed house.
"It's not all on them. It's on me too. We have to keep as high a standard as possible for each game."
Didier Drogba's Montreal Impact are in action on Saturday when they host Philadelphia Union while Western Conference leaders Colorado Rapids go to Columbus Crew.
