New Colorado Rapids signing Tim Howard watched on as they drew 1-1 with DC United in MLS on Sunday.

Dillon Powers put Rapids ahead in the 69th minute before Fabian Espindola's leveller 11 minutes later earned United a point. Howard will join Rapids from Everton in the summer.

Philadelphia Union enjoyed a first home win of the season as they beat New England Revolution 3-0.

C.J Sapong's first-half brace put them in control and there was no way back for Revolution when Je-Vaughn Watson was sent off in the 36th minute.

Sebastien Le Toux made sure of the win in injury time, but it could have been a far more handsome scoreline had visiting goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth not saved two penalties, denying Ilisinho and Le Toux.
