Burnley v Swansea preview: Wilfried Bony set to return

Burnley will look to maintain their best start to a top-flight season since 1973 when Swansea visit Turf Moor on Saturday.

Under the shrewd stewardship of Sean Dyche, Burnley have won their last two matches and could make it three wins on the bounce for the first time in the Premier League with another victory.

Goals have been hard to come by at Turf Moor though as Dyche's side have scored more than one goal in only one of the last 13 home Premier League games, courtesy of a 2-2 draw with West Brom in May.

Meanwhile, Swansea are in danger of losing four Premier League games on the spin. They last when through a similar run in December last year when Bob Bradley was sacked.

However, they've won more points away (5) than at home (3) this season with their sole victory on the road coming against Crystal Palace.

Tom Heaton and Jon Walters remain long-term absentees.

Opta stats

  • Burnley have lost all four of their Premier League meetings with Swansea, with both matches at Turf Moor ending 0-1.
  • Indeed, the Swans have won six of their last seven league meetings with the Clarets, losing the other in a Championship clash in April 2011.
  • Swansea's 100% winning record against Burnley is there only such record in the Premier League against sides they've faced more than once.
  • Only Manchester United (0) and Liverpool (1) have conceded fewer home goals than Burnley in the Premier League this season (2).
  • There have been 12 occasions of a team failing to have a shot on target in a Premier League game this season, with Swansea (3) responsible for 25% of those.
  • Tammy Abraham has been involved in 71.4% of Swansea's seven Premier League goals this season (4 goals, 1 assists), the highest ratio in the division.

Paul Merson's prediction

I think it will be a tight game, we have seen Swansea go to Tottenham and draw 0-0, they made it difficult for Arsenal at times at the Emirates.

And when they do not have to chase a game, they can be hard to beat. So I am going to just go for Burnley, who I think will just about be able to break them down.

PAUL PREDICTS: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds 9/2)
