Watch a preview of Saturday's Premier League fixtures

Mike Phelan is set for his first game as Hull City's full-time head coach when they travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth on Saturday.

Phelan had been in temporary charge since Steve Bruce's exit in the summer, leading the club to 15th in the Premier League table after seven games.

However, Hull come into this fixture on the back of three straight defeats, conceding 11 goals in the process and Phelan will be hoping his side can halt that run at the Vitality Stadium.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have picked up back-to-back victories at home in the Premier League and boss Eddie Howe is keen to see his side continue that winning run.

"We know the importance of this game," Howe said. "But we know the importance of every game. We feel the pressure in every match to perform and pick up points. Ultimately that's what will get you where you want to be at the end of the season.

"Every home game, especially with the form we are in at home, we feel is very, very important. As a footballer you should enjoy coming out to play at home in front of your own supporters."

Team news

Howe says he has a number of players with "serious injuries" ahead of their Premier League game against Hull on Saturday.

The Cherries boss refused to disclose the names of those who have come back from international duty injured but the list of those who played for their country includes Joshua King, who was suffering from a hamstring injury before he joined up with Norway.

Harry Arter (groin strain) and Marc Pugh (hamstring) have been struggling with injuries but are expected to be included in the squad.

Hull are set to be without striker Dieumerci Mbokani, who has returned from the international break with an injury.

Michael Dawson is nearing a return following a knee problem, while Ahmed Elmohamady is back after a suspension.

Match stats

Bournemouth have won just one of their last 12 league meetings with Hull (D4 L7), although their last clash came back in March 2005.

Hull are unbeaten on their last two league trips to Bournemouth, winning 4-0 in March 2005 and drawing 0-0 in December 2002.

This will be the 819th different match-up in Premier League history.

The Cherries have made the fewest changes to their starting 11s in total this season (4).

Eddie Howe's side have suffered just one defeat in their last five league games (W2 D2), after losing six of the seven before that (D1).

Hull have lost each of their last three league games, shipping 11 goals in the process; they last suffered a longer losing streak in the league back in November 2014 (four defeats).

No team has used fewer players in the top-flight this season than Hull (18, equal with Chelsea).

Callum Wilson has netted two goals in his last four Premier League games, the same number he managed in his previous 13 top-flight games.

A divisional-high 71.4% of Hull's goals have come from dead-ball situations (5/7), including a joint-league-high three goals via corners.

Jordon Ibe is the only player to be subbed off in all seven Premier League games this season.

Bournemouth have started with 7+ English players in each of their last 13 Premier League games while Hull have never started a game in the competition with more than six.

Merson's predictions

I fancy Bournemouth at home. They are playing well and got a good result at Watford after beating Everton.

If they win this game too, they could have a really comfortable season. It's only early but you need to win the games against the teams around you and I think Bournemouth will do that on Saturday.

They play an open style of football and Jack Wilshere looked very sharp against Watford - I know he missed a sitter but he's getting back to where he was at Arsenal.

Betting

Bournemouth bid for a third home win of the Premier League season in this one, and are rated odds-on 4/5 shots to do so by Sky Bet. Hull are 18/5 to pick up three points, while it's 5/2 to end all-square.

The Cherries' two previous victories have both been by the only goal, and a 1-0 home win here is 11/2.

Callum Wilson is 4/1 favourite to break the deadlock, with Robert Snodgrass considered Hull's key threat at 8/1.
