Republic of Ireland defender Ciaran Clark has been ruled out of Tuesday night's Nations League match against Wales.
Clark picked up a thigh injury in training and he will be assessed by the Newcastle medical team when he returns later this week.
The 29-year-old could be a doubt for Newcastle's Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday.
He has started five of the Magpies' eight league games to date this season, but was among the substitutes for the 3-2 defeat at Manchester United in their last outing.
He was also an unused substitute for his country's 0-0 draw with Denmark at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
