Callum Wilson says he has been "auditioning" for a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad all season.
Wilson's six Premier League goals this term makes him joint-fourth on the list of top scorers so far this season, alongside the likes of England duo Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling, as well as Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The 26-year-old's fine form this term has seen him earn his first senior call-up - for the games against USA and Croatia - and Wilson admits he's been trying to impress England boss Southgate for the duration of the current campaign.
"I'd say I have been auditioning all season with my club football," he said.
"I've been working hard to impress the manager both at club football and international level to get myself here, so I'm hoping to train well and hopefully that will get recognition and I'll get a game at some point."
Injuries meant Wilson missed both of Bournemouth's away trips to Wembley to face Tottenham, although the striker visited the National Stadium last year to watch boyhood club Coventry beat Oxford 2-1 in the Checkatrade Trophy final.
"I've not actually ever played at Wembley," Wilson added.
"The only time I have been there was to watch Coventry in the Checkatrade Cup when I was injured. I said I'd never go to Wembley until I played for England there.
"But it would be a dream come true [to turn out for England at Wembley]. There are no guarantees I will get on but I've still got probably 15 or 20 family and friends coming to the game to watch.
"It just shows what they want for me and what I want for myself, and if it doesn't happen I'll keep working hard. I'm not one to shy away from a challenge so I'll be making sure I'm working hard and doing everything possible to get that."
The Bournemouth striker could be denied an opportunity to play at Wembley on Thursday due to Wayne Rooney's farewell appearance for England.
Wilson said it will be an honour to share an England dressing room with Rooney admits he has been a fan of his since he was young.
"I used to see a lot of games (growing up) and he was a great goalscorer," Wilson said. "You'd always see him pop up with goals.
"One that probably stands out was his goal in his earlier days for Everton against Arsenal. And that's what's made him, goals like that, overhead kicks.
"Watching him, and Thierry Henry also, that's what I have aspired to try and be like."
