Jack Wilshere will not feature when England host Italy at Wembley on Tuesday evening as part of their World Cup preparation.
The Arsenal midfielder has been struggling with injury and the FA confirmed his absence on Saturday, while also giving an update on Liverpool's Joe Gomez, who limped off early on in Friday's 1-0 win over the Netherlands.
"Jack Wilshere will not return to the England camp ahead of Tuesday night's fixture against Italy," the FA said.
"The Arsenal midfielder didn't travel to Amsterdam as a precaution and will remain with his club."
Gomez will, though, stay with Gareth Southgate's squad for further assessment following his 10th-minute withdrawal during the victory over the Netherlands.
Wilshere had been hoping to win his first cap in nearly two years in these two World Cup warm-up friendlies, having returned to Arsene Wenger's team this season after a spell on loan at Bournemouth in 2016/17.
Southgate was relatively upbeat on Wilshere's medical status ahead of the game in the Dutch capital.
He said: "We are hopeful it will settle down pretty quickly. It's an ongoing problem and it's not something new for him.
"He's very disappointed not to be involved."
