Outgoing FA chairman Greg Dyke has confirmed a three-man selection panel will recommend Sam Allardyce as the next England manager.
Dyke was speaking to Sky Sports News HQ outside Wembley ahead of Thursday's board meeting where it is expected the Sunderland manager's appointment will be ratified after a compensation deal with his Premier League club is agreed.
Dyke, who leaves his position after three years, says the three-man group - which comprises FA chief executive Martin Glenn, FA technical director Dan Ashworth and FA vice-chairman David Gill - are sure Allardyce is the right selection.
"Clearly the three-man group are convinced he's the right man and I'd go along with that as well," he said.
"You'd have to ask them but as far as I understand it that's the discussion. We appointed a three-man committee to go out and look at the candidates and they've come back with a decision about who they think is the best man.
"We want to integrate the England team closer into St George's Park and we've planned to do that for the past two years."
England play their opening 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on September 4.
