The Football Association will combine a Euro 2016 performance review with their search for a new England manager, Sky sources understand.
FA chief executive Martin Glenn will outline the details of the governing body's reaction to England's exit from the tournament in a press conference at 4pm on Tuesday.
It is understood the FA will review all aspects of England's preparations and performance at Euro 2016 in parallel with its search for a replacement for the departing Roy Hodgson, who was offered the chance to take part in the press conference but declined.
The process will be led by chief executive Glenn and technical director Dan Ashworth, and may seek input from other experienced football figures.
Hodgson resigned from his position following England's 2-1 defeat to Iceland on Monday night as the national side exited a tournament in which they won just a single game, against Wales in the group stages.
England's performance against Iceland has been roundly criticised, with Jamie Carragher describing it as "shambolic".
