Liverpool v Roma: Francesco Totti and Robbie Fowler ask fans to behave

By Zinny Boswell

Robbie Fowler and Francesco Totti have implored Liverpool and Roma fans to keep the peace ahead of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

The two clubs held a meeting last Friday after Livepool supporter Sean Cox was left in critical after being attacked by a group of Roma fans outside Anfield before last Tuesday's first-leg.

Despite Liverpool holding a commanding 5-2 lead after the first-leg, the focus ahead of Wednesday's second leg has been on ensuring the safety of the two sets of fans.

Former Roma captain Totti, who spent 25 years playing for Roma, said: "For a few hours we have begun to colour our city as a Giallorossi. The world looks at us and we want to dress Rome with its best clothes: we are its ambassadors, we have a great responsibility, inside and outside the Olympic Stadium.

"We support our kids with the love and passion that distinguish us, we make sure that our eyes and those of the players are not diverted from the field: now more than ever is the centre of our universe. On Wednesday, in every place in Rome, we will have to demonstrate once again to be able to transmit our values: those of sport, of welcome and respect for adversaries ."

Former Liverpool striker Fowler added: "I want to ask the Liverpool fans to remember Sean Cox when they are in Rome and I also want to ask them to behave like they did all season in Europe: they were exceptional and I am sure they will continue to be. They have been a boast for the Club this season wherever they went and I know they will continue to be

"Liverpool has done its utmost to collaborate with the authorities of Rome, in order to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for both fans. I welcome this news with pleasure and joy. No Liverpool fan has ever been arrested during a European competition this season, which shows how well our fans have behaved appropriately during their trip.

"Liverpool fans can honour Sean by behaving impeccably in Rome, as they did throughout the season ".
